A Roman story is the exciting new exhibition open to the public on the second tier of the Colosseum from 9 February to 9 May 2021.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A never before attempted history of the <strong>long-standing relationship between Rome and Pompeii<\/strong>, the exhibition aims to reconstruct the <strong>complex dialogue<\/strong> that linked the two most famous sites in Italian archaeology <strong>from the Second Samnite War to the eruption of 79 AD<\/strong>. The exhibition\u2019s high scientific quality is based on the reconstruction of <strong>social and cultural relations<\/strong> traceable in particular through <strong>archaeological research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is promoted by the <strong>Parco archeologico del Colosseo<\/strong> with the organization of <strong>Electa<\/strong> and the <strong>scientific collaboration of the Parco archeologico di Pompei <\/strong>and the <strong>National Archaeological Museum of Naples<\/strong>. Exhibit installations and graphics are curated by Maurizio di Puolo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The exhibition was conceived and curated by Mario Torelli<\/strong>, the great, recently deceased archaeologist. The show is also dedicated to the memory of his many years of activity in the scholarship of the ancient world as a committed intellectual and founding father of the new school of Italian archaeology.<\/p>\n<p>The show, with its nearly <strong>100 pieces<\/strong>, enriched by videos and virtual projections, is divided into three large sections \u2013 <strong>the alliance phase, the Roman colony phase, the decline and end of Pompeii<\/strong> \u2013, divided by intervals dedicated to two crucial moments that shaped the long history of Pompeii: <strong>the Roman siege of 89 BC and the earthquake of 62 AD, up until the catastrophic event of 79 AD<\/strong> that brought about the destruction of the Vesuvian city while Rome continued on its path to become a metropolis without
