In celebration of European Heritage Days 2019 \u2013 One two three\u2026Art! Culture and entertainment<\/strong>, the Parco archaeologico del Colosseo<\/strong> presents a series of special events<\/strong> for kids and adults, in English<\/strong> too. Come experience history and archaeology in the heart of the city with our exclusive openings, guided tours, treasure hunts and special performances<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Parco archaeologists and education services staff will be on hand to show visitors special areas of the Parco normally off limits to the public.<\/p>\n

Here are the events planned for Saturday the 21st<\/sup> and Sunday the 22nd<\/sup> of September<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

On Saturday morning the so-called Domus of Scaurus<\/strong> will be open to visitors, an important Late Republican aristocratic residence on the northern slopes of the Palatine that\u2019s normally closed to the public.<\/p>\n

On Sunday morning another special opening: the so-called Schola Praeconum<\/strong>, built on the hill facing the Circus Maximus and linked to the public games that were held there.<\/p>\n

Saturday and Sunday afternoon will be almost entirely dedicated to the subject of games in the ancient world<\/strong>: on Saturday afternoon in the Roman Forum, guided tours of the Basilica Julia<\/strong>, which housed the civil law courts, will introduce adults and children alike to the so-called tabulae lusoriae<\/em>, improvised games played while waiting for court proceedings. Along the southern slopes of the Palatine, our treasure hunt<\/strong> will provide kids with an unforgettable experience \u201cin the footsteps of Romulus\u201d, mythical founder of Rome.<\/p>\n

On Saturday and Sunday afternoon in the Roman Forum, in the square in front of the Temple of Divus Julius, ArteStudio will present a dance theater<\/strong> performance.<\/p>\n

And on the evening of 21 September, don\u2019t miss the Arma dei Carabinieri music band concert<\/strong> at the Basilica of Maxentius<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All activities are included in the PArCo entrance ticket<\/strong> with the exception of the tours of the Schola Praeconum<\/strong> (entrance at Via dei Cerchi 87), which are free of charge.<\/p>\n

A symbolic fee of 1\u20ac<\/strong> will be asked for entrance to the nighttime concert<\/strong> and visitors can pick up their tickets at the Piazza del Colosseo ticket booth starting at 20:00.<\/p>\n

Visitors interested in the guided tours and treasure hunt<\/strong> are requested to book in advance<\/strong>, as availability is limited<\/strong> for these activities.<\/p>\n
