A \u201cnature reserve\u201d where the spontaneous vegetation typical to the Mediterranean area grows alongside the towering trees planted in centuries past, allowing visitors to experience the spirit of the ancient imperial gardens and the Renaissance-era Farnese Gardens, which both decorated the venerable hill at various points in history. <strong>This green area is also the habitat of choice for a wide array of small mammals, reptiles, insects and birds.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To make the most out of the exceptional natural area that has been passed down to us and to contribute to the development of sustainable economy in its various aspects, the <strong>Parco archeologico del Colosseo is launching the new \u201cPArCo Green\u201d project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The project draws inspiration from the very varied concept of \u201cGreen Economy\u201d and comprises a number of different initiatives, united by the common goal of reducing our environmental footprint and therefore cutting back on pollution and conserving the ecosystem and its biodiversity<\/strong>, promoting a lifestyle in greater harmony with our natural environment, using its resources responsibly and without damaging it. Our activities range from <strong>waste and materials recycling<\/strong> to <strong>pilot projects for eco-sustainable restoration<\/strong>; from <strong>gathering the PArCo\u2019s spontaneous plants and fruits<\/strong> to <strong>planting the ancient and Renaissance-era aromatics linked to the history of our site<\/strong>, and much, much more.
