	
    {"id":26773,"date":"2021-09-08T12:00:30","date_gmt":"2021-09-08T10:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/?p=26773"},"modified":"2021-09-08T12:04:59","modified_gmt":"2021-09-08T10:04:59","slug":"the-water-of-the-fountain-with-a-peltae-motif-in-the-domus-augustana-is-flowing-again-as-part-of-the-green-commitment-of-the-parco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/en\/2021\/09\/the-water-of-the-fountain-with-a-peltae-motif-in-the-domus-augustana-is-flowing-again-as-part-of-the-green-commitment-of-the-parco\/","title":{"rendered":"The water of the Fountain with a Peltae motif in the Domus Augustana is flowing again as part of the &#8220;green&#8221; commitment of the PArCo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <strong>Wednesday, September 8<\/strong>, in the name of<a href=\"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/en\/parco-green\/\"> the &#8220;green&#8221; commitment of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo<\/a>, water will flow again inside the Fountain with a <em>Peltae<\/em> motif, located in the lower courtyard of the <strong>Domus Augustana<\/strong>, the private sector of the huge imperial palace built by the Emperor Domitian on the Palatine.<\/p>\n<p>After years of closure, the courtyard of the palace, which was formerly porticoed, is once again enriched by the sound and flow of water inside the monumental Fountain decorated with the motif of four opposing <em>peltae<\/em>, whose name recalls the shape of the shields carried by the Amazons. Furthering the p<strong>roject of re-functionalization of all the ancient and modern fountains of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo<\/strong>, started in June 2019 with the restoration of the Nymphaeum of Mirrors and the Fountain of the Papyri inside the Horti Farnesiani, today it is the turn of the Fountain that in Roman times brightened the walks of the imperial court between the <a href=\"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/en\/marvels\/palatine-stadium\/\">Palatine Stadium<\/a> and the private rooms overlooking the immense valley of the Circus Maximus.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which takes the form of a proper installation associated with the Latin motto &#8220;<em>Instar aquae tempus<\/em> &#8211; Time flows incessantly like water&#8221;, was designed by <strong>landscape architect Gabriella Strano<\/strong> and carried out with full respect for the <strong>value and importance of water and the need to implement strategies to adapt to new climate conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-26696 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/sito\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Fontana-Pelte_DSF8564-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/sito\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Fontana-Pelte_DSF8564-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/colosseo.it\/sito\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Fontana-Pelte_DSF8564-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/colosseo.it\/sito\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Fontana-Pelte_DSF8564-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/colosseo.it\/sito\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Fontana-Pelte_DSF8564-1500x1000.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<h3>The &#8220;green&#8221; refunctionalization project of the Fountain with a Peltae motif<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The installation reintroduced the presence of water in the perimeter basin of the ancient fountain without altering the structure of the monument in any way.
