{"id":20098,"date":"2020-12-03T21:09:48","date_gmt":"2020-12-03T20:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=20098"},"modified":"2020-12-15T13:29:09","modified_gmt":"2020-12-15T12:29:09","slug":"songs-of-stone-at-the-roman-forum-stephen-fry-reads-gabriele-tinti","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/colosseo.it\/en\/event\/songs-of-stone-at-the-roman-forum-stephen-fry-reads-gabriele-tinti\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cSongs of Stone at the Roman Forum\u201d Stephen Fry reads Gabriele Tinti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our \u201cSongs of stone\u201d series continues with a cycle of poetry readings dedicated entirely to the Roman Forum.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following readings by Michele Placido and Robert Davi, <strong>Stephen Fry<\/strong> will read <strong>\u201cSaturn\u201d<\/strong> by the writer-poet <strong>Gabriele Tinti<\/strong>, starting at 21:00 on <strong>Thursday 17 December<\/strong> on the Parco archeologico del Colosseo Facebook page and YouTube and IGTV channels.<\/p>\n<p>The famous Roman <strong><em>Saturnalia<\/em><\/strong> festival, which shares several similarities with modern Christmas traditions (for example the custom of exchanging small gifts), was celebrated <strong>from 17 to 23 December<\/strong> and its starting date will now provide an opportunity to celebrate the <strong>god Saturn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Temple of Saturn<\/strong>, which was in fact dedicated on 17 December, represents <strong>one of the most ancient places of worship in the Roman Forum<\/strong>. It stands beside the Forum with its majestic columns <strong>on the slopes of the Campidoglio<\/strong> and was once the location of the <strong><em>Aerarium<\/em><\/strong>, the Roman state treasury.
