On Thursday, 1 January 2026, the Parco archeologico del Colosseo will open the Colosseum and the archaeological area of the Roman Forum – Palatine Hill to the public, with the following visiting hours for all sites: 8.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m., with last admission at 3.30 p.m.
As regards the Colosseum, only the ordinary route of the first and second orders will be accessible; the arena floor, the underground areas, the attic and the Commodus passage will therefore remain closed.
In the Roman Forum – Palatine Hill area, the Farnese Aviary, the Nymphaeum of Rain, the Temple of Romulus, the Curia Iulia, the Horrea Piperataria, and the SUPER sites of the Roman Forum-Palatine Hill (House of Augustus, House of Livia, Santa Maria Antiqua, Aula Isiaca with Loggia Mattei, Palatine Museum) will not be accessible.
Access to the archaeological area known as the Mamertine Prison will be closed for the entire day.
Those who purchase the Forum Pass SUPER ticket will not be able to visit the SUPER sites on 1 January 2026.
