On Monday, 28 October, at 17:00, in the monumental Curia Iulia in the Roman Forum, the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, will be present for the signing of the agreement protocol between the Ferrara-based National Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah and the Parco archeologico del Colosseo.
Speakers at the ceremony will include Dario Disegni, Foundation President, Simonetta Della Seta, Director of the MEIS, and Giovanni Tortelli, architect and designer of the museum. To conclude the important event, Prof. Fausto Zevi will deliver a reading dedicated to the Jews of ancient Rome.
The agreement marks the beginning of a collaboration between the two cultural institutions aimed at enabling shared research and development programs, exchanges of professional expertise, and integrated digital communication strategies to improve our knowledge of the history of Judaism after Titus’s destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Apart from the MEIS itself, symbolic sites for this shared project include the Arch of Titus, the Temple of Peace, and the Flavian Amphitheater, all monuments built thanks to the spoils looted from the destruction of Jerusalem.
