Restoring to life the myths — the Mythologica of the Greeks and Romans — through tales and images, as stories to listen to and view as images but also as cultural models revealing customs and beliefs we thought we had forgotten. And today’s issues and problems re-emerge from an antiquity that seemed remote.
The initiative aims to explore the metamorphosis of these ancient tales by dealing with each of them in an encounter with two experts. In the first part of the meeting the classicists will recount the myth and explain its cultural significance. In the second part, the words of an art historian, a writer, filmmaker or singer-songwriter will highlight the different ways the ancient stories were adapted, retold and interpreted through the centuries.
