Closure of the Colosseum and early closure of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill on 28 October 2025
On Tuesday, 28 October 2025, the Rome Police Headquarters ordered the closure of the Colosseum to the public for the International Meeting of Dialogue and Prayer for Peace organised by Sant’Egidio, in the presence of Pope Leo XIV.
The archaeological area of the Roman Forum – Palatine Hill will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (last admission at 12:00 p.m.).
Only the following entrances will be open
• Largo della Salara Vecchia
• Roman Forum no. 1
• Mamertine Prison
• Trajan’s Column
The following entrances will be CLOSED:
• Via di San Gregorio
• Arch of Titus
• Exit from the Basilica of Maxentius
The Temple of Venus and Rome, the area near the Arch of Titus, and the eastern slopes of the Palatine Hill will not be accessible to the public.
Forum Pass SUPER tickets will be on sale exclusively at the ticket office in Largo della Salara Vecchia and the ticket office at Roman Forum No. 1.
