The visit “A Night at the Colosseum” includes a guided tour lasting about 60 minutes, which will take place along the first tier of the monument, the floor of the arena, and the underground levels.
The visit will be mainly dedicated to the narration of the Colosseum from the point of view of the spectators and the protagonists, and therefore as a building used for the spectacles that took place during the day, including hunts (venationes) and gladiatorial fights (munera).

- entrance from the Valadier gate on the square
- start from the north fornix, formerly the emperors’ main entrance
- brief insight into the imperial entrance and the stucco decorations
- passage on the arena floor, complete view of the cavea where the spectators sat and account of the spectacles that took place here during the games offered by the emperors
- descent to the underground levels, account of the construction and operation
- visit to the new permanent exhibition that focuses on the protagonists of the spectacles with holographic projections, educational videos, original exhibits, and reconstructions of ancient armour
- stop at the Fosso Labicano to learn more about the structure of the corridors and the so-called docks of the eastern manoeuvring chamber
- the hoists and lifts
- moonlit walk along the new walkway through the perimeter and rectilinear corridors to the western manoeuvring chamber
- climb up the stairs under the Triumphal Gate and exit from the underground levels with a stop in front of the mural painting with a view of Jerusalem, concrete evidence of the use and reuse of the Colosseum over the centuries

Yes, it is possible to enter the open areas of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill with small dogs (weighing between 5 kg and 10 kg).
The Colosseum, the Domus Aurea and all closed areas are excluded.
Dogs will have to be carried in special carriers belonging to the visitors themselves. Dog prams will not be allowed.
Admission for dogs is free of charge.
After passing the security checks, dogs must remain in their carriers for the duration of the visit.
In the case of a dog for use in pet-therapy or as a companion in the event of disability, appropriate documentation must be presented.Is there free admission every first Sunday of the month?
Yes. The Colosseum Archaeological Park adheres to the initiative with the following visit options:
– Ticket Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine to visit in one single tour the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine
– Forum Pass ticket to visit the Imperial Forum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine in a single tour
Tickets can be collected, in order of arrival, at the ticket office in Piazza del Colosseo, located near the Temple of Venus and Rome and in Largo della Salara Vecchia.
During the free Sundays also the Membership Card and Roma Pass holders can collect their free tickets at the ticket office, in order of arrival.Can I buy my ticket at the ticket office?
