Following the indications of the Directorate-General of Museums from 15th June to 15th December 2023, admission tickets to state-owned museums and cultural sites will cost one euro more.

Revenues from the temporary increase will be entirely used to address the emergency in the areas hit by the floods, which were severely affected by landslides, water infiltration and flooding that also damaged the cultural heritage – including museums – for which the Council of Ministers declared a state of emergency.

As stated in the measures contained in Article 14 of Decree Law No. 61 of 1st June 2023 approved by the Government, in particular, the proceeds of this important initiative will be used to secure and restore cultural assets that have been affected by the flood, with interventions to protect and rebuild public and private heritage.

The measure, initially planned until the 15th of September 2023, has been extended until the 15th of December 2023 (Directorate-General of Museums Circular N. 83).

The increase also includes the reduced ticket for young people from 18 to 25 years of age, which will increase from 2 to 3 euros.

Free admission for the categories set out in Decree no. 507 of 11 December 1997 remains.
